NRHS Symphonic Band to play at OMEA Conference
The Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Professional Development Conference is an annual event that brings together music educators, students, and professionals in Ohio to engage in learning, networking, and professional growth. It typically features a variety of sessions, workshops, and performances focused on improving music education practices, advancing teaching techniques, and exploring new trends in music education. Attendees can gain valuable insights from keynote speakers, attend hands-on workshops, and participate in discussions about pedagogy, technology in the classroom, curriculum development, and other topics relevant to music educators.
In addition to professional development, the conference often includes performances by student groups, ensemble competitions, and exhibitions showcasing resources for music education. It's a great opportunity for music teachers to enhance their skills, connect with colleagues, and stay updated on the latest developments in the field.
OMEA selects high-quality ensembles from across Ohio to perform. These include groups like school bands, orchestras, choirs, and other musical ensembles of various grades . Groups must submit a sample of their playing and are chosen through a blind process. North Ridgeville Symphonic Band is one of 35 performing groups at the 2025 conference and one of 5 bands performing.
Today, the North Ridgeville Concert and Symphonic Bands continue to uphold a legacy of excellence. The Symphonic Band, the program’s premier concert ensemble, consistently earns superior ratings at Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Large Group and State Adjudicated Events under the direction of Mrs. Hailey Bryson. These performances highlight the ensemble’s technical skill, artistry, and dedication as they perform challenging and inspiring repertoire with passion and precision.
